How to post on TikTok without losing quality

You export a sharp, smooth edit, and once it's on TikTok it looks soft, blocky or choppy. Here is why it happens and how to post your video in the quality you exported.

Why TikTok lowers your video quality

TikTok re-encodes every video it receives to save bandwidth. During that step the bitrate drops, fine details (text, grain, gradients) get smudged, and fast motion can lose smoothness.

The better your export, the more you notice the difference: high-bitrate, high-frame-rate edits are exactly the ones that suffer most.

Step 1: export with the right settings

Export from your editing app (CapCut, Premiere, DaVinci…) in 1080p, 60 or 120 fps, .mp4 (H.264). For most creators, 1080p at 120 fps with 15 to 20 Mbps is the best balance: sharp, and smooth on every phone.

See all recommended settings for 2K and 4K.

Step 2: prepare the file with SNGmethod

Drop your export into the SNGmethod tool. It prepares the file in seconds, without re-encoding it, so TikTok keeps it as you exported it. Your video never leaves your device: only a few kilobytes of technical data are processed.

Step 3: upload it the right way

Post the prepared file from tiktok.com in Chrome or Edge, not from the TikTok app (the app recompresses before uploading) and not from Safari. Upload it as-is: no trimming, filters or edits in TikTok's editor.

If you move the file between devices, use a cable, AirDrop or Google Drive, never WhatsApp or Messenger, which compress videos.
